Charles Meeks, native of Covington County, first ran for the Troy City Council in 1975, and served for three consecutive terms. Charles then took four years off before running for re-election in 1988. Charles served in the army for two years prior to running for office. While serving the citizens of Troy, he also ran his own pest control business. Charles enjoyed 46 years as owner of Meeks Pest Control, before turning over the business to his sons, Tim and Greg.
Charles has always been involved in the community. He has served as deacon of First Baptist Church, and has also served on the finance committee. He also coached Dixie Youth, and was president of the Dixie Youth League. Charles was a charter member of the Troy Jaycees. He was a member of the Alabama Pest Control Association, and has held every office in the National Pest Control Association. Charles is also an active memberof the Troy Rotary Club.
In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling with his wife of over 50 years, Josephine. They have visited all, except one, of the states in our country and have also traveled overseas.
