Notice from the Troy Police Department

The parade route begins on Elm Street and goes around the Downtown Square and will turn left back onto Elm Street where it ends in the Pike County Courthouse parking lot.

The Troy Police Department is requesting assistance from the public regarding the parade and prohibited areas of travel on or around the parade route Monday.

Beginning at 5:00 PM Monday, traffic will be ONE-WAY on Elm Street westbound (toward downtown) from Elm at Academy to Elm and Brundidge. Park Street at Elm Street to Madison Street will also be one-way southbound (toward Madison Street) beginning at 5:00 PM.  Traffic will not be allowed to turn onto Park Street at Madison and travel toward the parade route. Traffic will not be allowed to turn onto Elm Street from any other side street that intersects Elm Street beginning at 5:00 PM.

Vehicles that need to drop someone off who is in the parade should do so by traveling on George Wallace Drive to Elm Street and westbound on Elm toward downtown.  Vehicles may also travel on Academy Street to Elm Street to drop-off parade participants.

All traffic will be turned away from the parade route beginning at 5:30 PM.

The lighting of the Christmas tree will be after the parade.

Troy Police Chief Anthony Everage asks everyone to be patient and get to your designated area before the parade starts.  He advises that SAFETY is our main concern for spectators and parade participants.

All persons riding floats or moving vehicles must stay on the float or vehicle until the end of the parade where unloading is permitted.

Throwing candy from floats and vehicles in the parade to spectators will not be permitted.  Children get very excited during a parade, so we urge everyone to please be careful.

Police officers will be assigned at intersections on and around the parade route to direct traffic and pedestrians during the parade and the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Have a great time at the parade and Merry Christmas.
